On the Trail
High Trails is an integral part of the sixth-grade curriculum in ASD20. It is a four-day/three night outdoor-education experience located in Florissant, Colorado.
Each ASD20 middle school is assigned 1 to 2 weeks to attend High Trails. Teachers and administrators from the middle schools accompany their students to camp. The High Trails Staff works collaboratively with ASD20 teachers to provide a rich experience.
At High Trails, students will study many aspects of the middle-school curriculum: ecology, history, conservation, geology, astronomy, and nature crafts, as well as the responsible use of the outdoors for recreational purposes. Responsibility, self-reliance, leadership, and friendship also grow during the experience.
